Cybersquatting: Facebook sues Namecheap and Whoisguard

Facebook is suing the Namecheap domain name registrar and the Whoisguard proxy service in an Arizona court. Facebook accuses the two companies of having registered no less than 45 domain names that infringe the Facebook group brands. Facebook provides some examples of the presumed abusive domain names: instagrambusinesshelp.com, facebo0k-login.com and whatsappdownload.site.
.
Facebook states that Whoisguard refused to release information that identifies the said domain name holders. Should the lack of cooperation of Whoisguard be proven, it would be a deplorable behavior, contrary not only to the laws relating to the protection of intellectual property rights, but also the contractual rules of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
