Futher concentration in the 'corporate' Domain Names industry: NetNames sold to CSC

2016/08/03

In a communiqué published August 1st, HgCapital, a Private Equity Fund based in the UK, announced that it has sold NetNames to CSC Global (an American Group) for an unknown sum. NetNames had been purchased by this Fund for 153 mio in 2011.

This deal is not really a surprise. NetNames made losses for 2 consecutives years, in 2014: 19.48 mio GBP and in 2015 : 20.89 mio GBP, while sales were stagnating at 53 mio GBP. HgCapital did not succeed to make NetNames profitable, therefore it decided to sell it. CSC did not do any specific comment on this acquisition. Then after taking over IP Mirror last year, CSC continues its external growth.

The "Corporate" Domain Names Industry is becoming more and more American and concentrated: inevitably prices will then increase. NetNames clients will have to check their invoices...
