On June 20th, 2016, the domain name www-lefigaro.com was registered under a Proxy Service. This domain name is very close to www.lefigaro.com which redirects toward the website of the French daily Newspaper « le Figaro » (http://www.lefigaro.fr/).
On July 6th, 2016, while the domain name www-lefigaro.com does not appear to redirect toward an active website, the URL http://www-lefigaro.com/politique/2016-07-06/hollande-retire-la-loi-travail.html is shared on social media platforms. The corresponding webpage imitated the « Scan Politique » (« Political Scan ») section of Le Figaro’s website. It displayed an article titled (in French) « François Hollande abandons the labor law, Manuel Valls resigns as a consequence thereof ». Considering the climate of tension around the labor law reform project, this headline was very likely to draw the attention of internet users.
Obviously, the information is false. Apparently, the domain name www-lefigaro.com has been registered with the sole purpose to serve as the basis of a sophisticated hoax, based on « credible » URL address and webpage content.
Currently, the webpage appears to be unavailable. However -thanks Internet- an archived version is available here
