Brexit : what impact on domain names ?

July 1, 2016

The United Kingdom has decided to leave the European Union. Although precise modalities have yet to be defined, Brexit will occur.

The impact of this choice is important for UK domain names holders. Indeed, several ccTLDs such as .FR, and the .EU at the European level, require that domain names owners have their address in the EU, which will not be the case in the future.

Of course this rule will not apply immediately, but it will eventually. The consequences for domain names owners in those TLDs may be major if no preventive action is taken.
