The Trademark ClearingHouse (TMCH), the body setup by ICANN for the protection of trademarks owners during the launch of the new gTLDs has published today some interesting statistics:
32 993 trademarks have been registered within the TMCH
87,1% among them have been registered by an official agent
97,7% have been verified and validated by the TMCH.
You can find all related information on the TMCH website.
Reminder of the advantages to register a trademark within the TMCH:
To be able to apply during the Sunrise for all open new gTLDs, and therefore to register on a priority basis a domain name matching exactly the trademark.
To receive the claims when a third party registers a domain name matching exactly the trademark.
To have the proof of bad faith of a third party (or cyber squatter) for an URS or an UDRP (out of court procedure) : the registrant will receive a notification from the TMCH that a trademark similar to the domain name has been registered within the TMCH.
As an official TMCH agent, IP TWINS can help you to register and protect your trademark during the launch of the new gTLDs.
