According to ntldstats.com, .XYZ new extension is now first in the race among the new extensions. Will the ambitious CEO of .XYZ Daniel Negari beats its prediction, to make the .XYZ as the “new” .COM and register 1 million of domains this year?
Persistent rumours say that the numbers of registered .XYZ domains have been artificially increased following an agreement between the Registrar Network Solutions and the Registry for .XYZ.
Network Solutions would have registered .XYZ domains on the ‘back’ of its clients (without their approval) with an ‘opt-out’ possibility to increase artificially the number of .XYZ domains.
If this should be confirmed, this is clearly against the 2013 RAA (Registrar Accreditation Agreement) with ICANN. Then, the real number of .XYZ will show up only by next year when the clients of Network Solutions will not renew their .XYZ domains.
Many actors of the community have already asked ICANN to make an investigation on these allegations. More to follow on this.
