According to a communiqué published today by Switch, the Swiss registry for the .ch, the Swiss TLD is the safest in Europe. This is due to an ad hoc team (CERT) within Switch in charge of cybercriminal activities and to the extended collaboration between Switch and the Federal Police (FedPol).
Since the beginning of this year, over 5000 domain names in .ch, which were linked to abusive websites, have been deleted by Switch (4500 for August only), against around 700 for the whole 2016 year.
The intensification of the collaboration between Switch and FedPol has made the increasing fight against cybercrime more efficient and successful. Among other things, an online form is available on the FedPol website which can be filled by anyone suspecting an abusive website. This information (related to the websites with .ch URLs) are transmitted to Switch. A request to verify the address of the registrant is then sent. If, after 30 days no answer has been received, the domain name is deleted, which takes down the related and abusive website at the same time. The common campaign “Safer Internet” launched by Switch and FedPol seems to be successful.
