July 17, 2017
Until now, the Kenyan registry has only allowed the registration of third-level domain names, i.e. .CO.KE. However, KENic has recently announced that .KE domains will be available as from 23 July, 2017.
This extension will have several launch phases:
Sunrise The sunrise period will last for 90 days starting on 23 July 2017. Applications for .KE domains in sunrise will be open to holders of Kenyan trademark registrations.
Landrush The landrush phase will be open to all and is set to last approximately 30 days according to the registry. During the Landrush phase, domain name registrations are possible prior to general availability at a supplementary cost.
General availability The registration of .KE domain names will be open to all approximately 150 days after the launch of the TLD.
We will inform you as soon as we receive further information from the registry.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
