The Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH), which enables trademark owners to register corresponding new top-level domains with a priority claim, recently announced a temporary discount on new registrations, as well as a new functionality to help secure trademark protected domain names.
On the financial side, the TMCH will coordinate the launch of the .AFRICA and has already activated a promotional pricing for newly registered trademark records for the entire sunrise period of .AFRICA.
IP Twins is an accredited agent at TMCH and will offer the same discount to all new trademark registrations at TMCH.
With regard to the new functions, the TMCH has also announced that trademark holders will be able to transfer trademark records that were assigned the INVALID status to accredited agents. This will enable the trademark owner to obtain another verification of his trademark(s) by an independent agent who has knowledge of TMCH processes and conditions.
The Trademark Clearinghouse offers valuable services to trademark holders : apart from the priority registration of domain names, it notifies trademark holders of all new gTLD registrations identical to their trademarks and also provides a service enabling the trademark owner to subscribe to protected trademarks lists which block said identical new gTLDs registrations.
However, notifications of new registrations offered by the TMCH do NOT replace a domain name monitoring service, the scope of which is not limited to identical reproductions or to new gTLDs.
Your IP Twins team is available to help you protect your trademarks at the TMCH and to monitor the use and abuse of your trademarks among domain names and on the Web. Please contact us for any additional information.
