.AFRICA at last?

January 9, 2017 The next and perhaps final episode of the saga opposing DotConnectAfrica and the South African registry ZACR for the allocation of the new .AFRICA extension has been played out in a Los Angeles court.

DotConnectAfrica had in fact sought to obtain a preliminary injunction from the court to prevent ICANN from allocating the new .africa extension to ZACR pending trial. However, the court denied the injunction which means that ICANN is free to either put the .Africa extension in the root under ZACR’s control before the start of the trial or to await the outcome of the trial before taking action.

A court hearing to set the dates for the trial will take place on 23 January 2017.

To be continued….
